| Practical
Training Requirements
Students
must complete a minimum of 139 hours practical training for
the entire program as part of their qualification.
Practical
training is divided up as follows:
- Training
under a Qualified Instructor at one of Command Dog Training School's
venues for group classes This will entail attendance on Saturday
for min of 3 hours, Wednesday & Thursday evenings for 2 hours. (min of 50
hours)
- Canine
Husbandry skills-training at DogZone daycare centre for dogs on
selected days Monday to Friday. (min of 24 hours)
- Training
untrained dogs in Basic Obedience, minor Intermediate Level & some Trick Training.at the Blue Cross Animal Shelter. (Min of 65 hours)

Note:
To complete the practical requirements of this program, students must travel to each of the venues either by public transport or hire vehicle. Your Course Director can assist with this.
If
a student wishes to purchase a dog, the student is responsible for its accommodation,
transport, feeding and care during their course including all associated costs.
Further, students will need to make arrangements to have their dog
transported back to their country of origin at the conclusion of
the course.
Uniforms and Equipment
Students will be provided with a short sleeve polo top, cap and name badge as well as a Basic Trainers Kit consisting of training leash, head halter, correction collar, soft training collar, rope tug toy, treat pouch, treats and clicker. However, as it is a basic trainer's kit, students will be required to supplement their personal kit with extra training aids once they commence practical training of dogs at Blue Cross Animal shelter. DTA subsidises these purchases with a 20% discount.
